openQRM brings Clonezilla, Cobbler, FAI, LinuxCOE and Opsi into the Cloud

Some hot news from the openQRM Enterprise Labs

openQRM is well known for its rapid deployment and Cloud Computing capabilities for physical systems and virtual machines.
In the first phase after the complete re-write in 2008/2009 (starting with the 4.x version) openQRM focuses mostly on very flexible and dynamic "network-deployment" methods, allowing systems to directly boot-up from a great variety of different storage types. In the second phase we have added "local-deployment for Virtual Machines" to simplify the integration with existing virtualized environments.
We are now happy to announce the third phase and milestone in the openQRM development with a third available deployment method "install-from-template", especially for local-installed systems.

With this third deployment option openQRM now covers all aspects of system provisioning within a single management console!
To implement this new "install-from-template" functionality we have extended the "openQRM Appliance Model". It now allows to dynamically "plug-in" new local-deployment technologies like e.g. Cobbler, FAI, Opsi, etc. into openQRM.

On behalf of openQRM Enterprise the following technologies are already available as additional plug-ins for openQRM:

- Automated local provision by disk-imaging (cloning of the disk-content) for Windows and Linux

- Unattended local Linux installation (focus on RedHat/CentOS)

- Unattended local Linux installation (focus on Debian/Ubuntu)

- Unattended local Linux installation (supports a variety of different Linux distributions)

- Unattended local installation for Windows Systems (including Hardware/Software-Inventory, Package- and License-Management)

(as usual some of those new features will be sponsored by openQRM Enterprise for the next official openQRM release)

Since openQRM is closely designed according a well defined datacenter abstraction model all the above mentioned functionalities and features are automatically available in the openQRM Cloud. That means that openQRM can be used as the Middleware to attach an existing Cobbler, FAI, LinuxCOE and/or Opsi environments to Cloud Computing.

"openQRM, much more than just a Cloud"

Please
us if you are interested in those new features!
