openQRM Cloud now supports Windows

Yes, it is true ! openQRM Enterprise just added support for the Windows Operating-System to openQRM.

As another milestone openQRM the Windows integration comes in the flavor of 4 additional plug-ins :

  • kvm-storage plug-in

This plug-in combines KVM virtualization with the LVM storage technology. It allows rapid deployment of "local-booting" KVM virtual machines using LVM volumes as virtual hard-disks.

  • xen-storage plug-in

Similar to kvm-storage the xen-storage plug-in combines Xen virtualization with the LVM storage technology. It allows rapid deployment of "local-booting" Xen virtual machines using LVM volumes as virtual hard-disks.

  • sanboot-storage plug-in

The sanboot-storage plug-in provides rapid provisioning of the Windows OS to physical systems. It deploys Windows "server-images" directly from a SAN storage (iSCSI or AOE) via gPXE. One of its most important feature is the capability to snapshot Windows systems on the SAN. Based on the "golden-image" concept those snapshots then are used for re-deployment. It never has been easier to keep a complete history of Windows servers with the option to roll-back to any point at any time.

  • windows plug-in

The windows plug-in provides the Windows openQRM-Client which is installed on the Windows "server-images". It allows seamless management of the Windows systems from the openQRM Server UI.

With openQRM's focus on a complete framework for sustainable Datacenter Management the additional support for the Windows Operating-System is another important step into the direction of a "single-management console" for IT Infra-Structures. The new rapid provisioning features for the Windows OS are also fully integrated into the openQRM Cloud allowing their users to transparent request custom Windows server which are then automatically deployed within minutes.

The new Windows support in openQRM is sponsored by openQRM Enterprise.

Many thanks + Enjoy !
