openQRM 5.0 Community and Enterprise Editions released
openQRM with a completely reengineered user interface
The team led by project manager and managing director Matthias Rechenburg extensively rewrote the openQRM in version 5, making not only external changes to the IaaS- and the Cloud builder. Aside from the readjustment from a graphic user interface to the model-view controller concept all the openQRM plugins have been rewritten and expanded to include new functions. In addition, a completely new Cloud portal is available as well as another Postgres back-end database accompanying MySQL.
In order to meet the requirements of a multi-lingual management platform, openQRM has now been expanded to support all possible worldwide languages. OpenQRM 5.0 supports German and English as default languages. The Cloud portal additionally supports Spanish, Dutch, French and Italian.
For a better overview and improved transparency of the actions that the system is currently performing in the background, the openQRM 5.0 has a status display for "Active Events", which the user can view at any time.
In addition to the web-based user interface, the openQRM 5.0 now also offers the user a command-line client, with which the management platform can be controlled within a terminal session or integrated into other applications.
All other revisions are to be found in the Change log for openQRM 5.0.
Dual licensing model now offers professional support
The licensing model changes of openQRM 5.0 are due to increased customer demand. In addition to the existing Comminity Edition (GPL v2), companies can also choose the new Enterprise Edition which offers advanced business related functions as well as professional support by openQRM Enterprise GmbH.
"Over the past few years we have received increasing requests from customers for professional support and enterprise licenses, but especially for more feature wishes and support of existing client projects. Furthermore, the amount of support requests has increased", says Matthias Rechenburg, managing director of openQRM Enterprise GmbH. "To meet these requests professionally, we must invest in human resources and ensure sustainability. That is why we decided to change the openQRM licensing model", Rechenburg adds.
Professional users receive, with the new Enterprise edition, a commercially licensed product for a reasonable price and, at the same time, investment protection and security updates, product guarantees and professional support. Naturally, the Enterprise edition is provided with full access to the source code.
Customers with existing service level agreements (SLA) will automatically benefit from the new version: openQRM Enterprise GmbH equips them with all the necessary licenses for openQRM Enterprise 5.0.
Nothing will change regarding the availability of the Community edition of openQRM 5.0. The equally strongly enhanced free version of openQRM 5.0 appears as is currently the case under the GPLv2 license. Matthias Rechenburg: "We are and will remain an Open source company. The openQRM community will benefit from the introduction of the Enterprise edition. We will continuously improve openQRM and the quality of our documentation, how-tos and videos – to which the community will be granted free access".
Further information about the Community and Enterprise editions and their differences can be found in the Edition Comparison Matrix.
